TRAIL RATED® TOUGH
The Trail Rated® badge signifies the ability to perform well under a variety of weather and road conditions. The five key areas of Trail Rated testing are traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation and water fording. The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk® and models equipped with the available Off-Road Adventure I Group or the Off-Road Adventure II Group are all Trail Rated.
For off-roading, traction is key. You want every wheel working to drive the vehicle forward. Jeep® Brand 4x4 systems help to ensure the right tire has traction when it’s needed.
HIGH AND DRY
When driving off-road, you’ll most likely come across water obstacles. Your Trail Rated® Jeep® Grand Cherokee 4x4 features high air intakes and special water sealing to help you get through.
Off-roading is a lot about getting through tight spots. Maneuverability is the ability to steer around or crawl over obstacles like rocks or logs.
Good articulation allows the wheels to travel or flex. The more up and down travel the wheel has, the better it can maintain contact with terrain to provide traction.
UP AND OVER
Good ground clearance helps you pass over obstacles. It’s measured at three points: approach angle, breakover angle and departure angle.
As the most capable SUV in its class, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk® delivers off-road dominance with a Quadra-Lift® Air Suspension, Selec-Speed® Control and Quadra-Drive® II with a rear Electronic Limited-Slip Differential.
Jeep® Grand Cherokee combines the Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System with three available 4x4 systems—Quadra-Trac I®, Quadra-Trac II® and Quadra-Drive® II to help you dominate the trails. Learn how Jeep Brand engineers are pushing the boundaries of performance.
SELEC-TERRAIN® TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM
Capability is tailored to fit any terrain placed before you. The available Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System adapts multiple vehicle settings to maximize traction performance. The system has five settings–Snow, Sand, Auto, Mud or Rock.
QUADRA-LIFT® AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM
The available Quadra-Lift® Air Suspension raises your vehicle's ground clearance up to a maximum of 10.8 inches. You can also lower it 1.6 inches for easy entry, exit and loading. It has five distinct driver-selectable height settings for different driving scenarios: Park, Aero, Normal, Off-Road I and Off-Road II.
QUADRA-DRIVE® II 4x4 SYSTEM
The available Quadra-Drive® II 4x4 System adds an Electronic Limited-Slip Differential (ELSD) in the rear to the Quadra-Trac II® and Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System. The system allows 100% of the available torque to be sent to one rear wheel. With Quadra-Drive II, four-wheel drive is always engaged, providing superior all-weather traction and off-road capability.
QUADRA-TRAC® 4x4 SYSTEMS
Quadra-Trac I® is an available full-time 4x4 system providing power to the front and rear axles. With this system, 4x4 is always engaged, there are no buttons to push or levers to pull, so you get all-weather capability and peace of mind. Quadra-Trac II® adds a 4x4 Low-range for off-roading, which provides rock-crawling expertise.
Available Selec-Speed® Control helps you when climbing and descending steep grades. It includes both Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control. Hill Descent Control monitors throttle, speed and braking when you're travelling downhill. Hill Start Assist keeps your brakes applied after you’ve released the brake, to give you time to accelerate without rollback.
Whether you are looking for more power, more efficiency, or more torque, the Jeep® Grand Cherokee offers four available engines designed to fuel your passion for adventure.
3.6L PENTASTAR® V6 ENGINE
The 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine offers impressive efficiency and fuel saving technology that cuts fuel flow and turns off the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop. The engine restarts when the brake pedal is released. The 3.6L engine kicks out up to 295 horsepower and can tow up to 6,200 pounds.
UP TO 7,400 POUNDS OF TOWING CAPABILITY
Grand Cherokee has a maximum towing capacity of up to 7,400 pounds when properly equipped. Trailer Sway Control (TSC) reduces trailer sway and improves handling in adverse towing conditions. TSC applies brake pressure on alternating wheels and may adjust engine throttle to help eliminate sway and maintain vehicle and trailer system stability.
